Surprising discoveries await you

The tourist routes in the inner part of Abruzzo can unexpectedly surprise visitors. The towns of Atri, Campli, Castelli, Isola del Gran Sasso and Morro d'Oro are art treasures framed against the Apennines Mountains.

With regard to gastronomy, Abruzzo is a region that still keeps unaltered its traditional flavours. The local cuisine is the typical cuisine of the mountains or the coast. The wines: Montepulciano, Trebbiano and Cerasuolo have all the necessary requirements to be appreciated by the most sophisticated palate. Abruzzo is the sole Italian region that not only counts a remarkably high number of castles - over 500 -, but can also boast the presence of at least one example per every different type of fortification known.

Campsite is in a green oasis

The Campsite is located in the town of Martinsicuro, on the border between Marche and Abruzzo, a modern and comfortable tourist resort offering its guests everything they might need: a promenade with a wide pedestrian area and a (25-km) cycle-track leading as far as the nearby towns of Alba Adriatica and Tortoreto; modern sports facilities such as skating rinks; a coastal biotope which is considered a rare faunistic oasis; a fine sandy beach and a sea that in 2000 was awarded the European Blue Flag, the exclusive award synonymous with unpolluted waters.

The Riva Nuova staff recommends a few excursions to visit areas near Martinsicuro, with itineraries that take a few hours, as well as farer destinations such as the large natural parks (Natural Park of Gran Sasso, Majella, Abruzzi and the Regional Park of Sirente Velino), the fascinating Tremiti Islands and the amazing Frasassi caves.
